Diamond is the hardest material on earth. 10 on the Mohs scale. Vickers hardness 10000 or more! Its hardness cuts even SiC and cemented carbide. A diamond stud is a single diamond grain fixed to the head of a hexagonal flange tapping screw made of stainless steel by vacuum brazing.
Although steel studs are effective in reducing wear on the sole, they are useless on hard rock with algae.
